With five numbers drawn from a hopper of 70, you might expect to see a number every 14 games. But that doesn't happen in a random drawing. On average, at least one ball from each group of five doesn't roll out after 15 drawings, based on an analysis of recent drawings.

Friday, Aug. 16: The Mega Millions drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. ET. You pick five numbers between 1-70 for the white balls and select one number between 1-25 for the yellow Mega Ball.
